Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be quite stable. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in very isolated cases by winter sport participants. Avalanches can penetrate down to the ground. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare and are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. In some regions from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard crust. In the last few days the natural avalanche activity has hardly increased.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. The old snowpack is faceted and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies in particular above approximately 2200 m. Hard wind slabs have bonded well with the old snowpack.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
