Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack will become firm and remain stable throughout. As the day progresses localised accumulations of windslab will develop on wind sheltered Easterly to Southerly aspects above 900 metres. Areas most affected will be where accumulations overlie the old snow especially around coire rims, crag aprons and the tops of gullies. Unstable cornices will also develop. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Strong to gale force West becoming North-Westerly winds, with the onset of light snow showers up until late afternoon. The freezing level will be around 500 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Spells of rain at all levels on strong to gale force Westerly winds. The midday freezing level was just above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack remains well bonded and stable throughout and is mostly confined to corrie back walls above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
