Forecast Snow Stability: The existing patchy snowpack will freeze in the colder conditions. It will be hard, icy and stable. There may be some fresh deposits, these are expected to be very shallow and isolated. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light rain overnight will ease by dawn, and will be followed by some light snow showers during the day. Early in the morning the freezing level will drop from summit level to around 600 metres where it will remain through the day. Moderate winds will be from the North-West. Observed Weather Influences: After a cool clear night and dry morning, a band of light rain crossed the area during the afternoon. The freezing level rose just above the higher summits by early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack remained firm and icy during the morning. It softened through the afternoon in the damper conditions. Stability remained good throughout the period. The avalanche hazard is Low.
