Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will will start to soften slightly but will remain well consolidated and firm in most locations. An icy surface crust will still be present mainly on North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will rise above the summits during the early hours of the morning and remaining so through the period. Mainly dry conditions with strengthening South-Westerly winds which will be very strong by the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was mostly dry today, only the odd isolated light snow flurry above 850 metres. Winds were light North-Easterly and the freezing level was around 750 metres although there was a frost at lower levels early this morning.
ObservedSnowStability: Snowpack stability is good in all locations and at all elevations. Cold conditions overnight have refrozen the moist snowpack producing an icy, hard surface crust on all snow slopes mainly above 700 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
