Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain stable, hard and well bonded on all aspects. Any fresh accumulations will be shallow and not significant. Remaining cornices will weaken and be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Some light snow turning to rain at all levels during the day. It will be drier by dusk. Freezing levels will rise above the summits early in the morning and remain there throughout the day, then drop back down to around 700 metres by evening. Very strong South-Westerly winds will increase to gale force during the day, then veer to Westerlies. Observed Weather Influences: There were occasional showers throughout the day, these falling as light snow above around 750 metres. On the summits the wind was a fresh South-Westerly. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack is icy, hard and stable on all aspects and at all levels. The small amounts of fresh snow that fell through the day were not significant. There remains good snow cover above 900 metres on North to East aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
