Avalanche Activity

Slight increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of new snow and wind.

The fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs that are forming in particular above approximately 2200 m represent the main danger. The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. In the regions where more snow falls danger level 2 (moderate) may be reached in the afternoon. Several small and medium-sized dry avalanches are possible as a consequence of new snow and strong wind. The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information.

Snowpack Structure

10 to 20 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall above approximately 1400 m. This snow is very loosely bonded above approximately 2100 m. As a consequence of snowfall and the strong southerly wind, snow drift accumulations formed.
