At the mid and upper elevations isolated pockets of slab up to 18 inches in depth persist and could be human triggered. The new snow and wind will begin to form pockets of new soft slab up to six inches deep upon slick rime crusts. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

A moist west flow ahead of an arctic cold front will bring widespread light snow to the mountains. This storm will favor the northern portions of our forecast region. Several inches of new snow are likely overnight. On Sunday skies will be cloudy with mountain snow showers. Temperatures will be in the single digits above zero. Winds will be northerly at 5 to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the higher elevations (8,500 to 10,500 feet). New shallow winds slabs and pockets of older wind slab up to 18 inches in depth exist and could be human triggered. Mostly stable snow exists at the lower elevations where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
