In sintesi

A completed melt-freeze cycle has created a mostly stable snowpack and the general avalanche hazard is LOW this morning at all elevations. Above 7,500 feet, daytime warming will increase the avalanche hazard to MODERATE as surface crusts break down, making wet point slides possible on steep, sunlit aspects. In the afternoon stay off of very steep sun affected slopes, and avoid steep drainages and gullies beneath them. A limited snowpack below 7,500 feet will keep avalanche activity unlikely through the day.

Avalanche Discussion

Cloud cover will increase overnight ahead of a Pacific low pressure system which will start to bring snow to the area late Wednesday. Overnight lows in the mountains and valleys will be in the mid 20s before rising to near freezing up high and near 50 down low. Ridgetop winds will be southwesterly at 5 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW Wednesday after a completed melt-freeze cycle makes the snowpack mostly stable. Cloud cover and cooler daytime highs should prevent wet slide activity.
