Snow surfaces will be hard and frozen in the morning and are expected to soften up to an elevation of around 9,000 feet depending on the cloud cover. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 10,500 feet, however some potential exist for convective snow showers to produce localized areas of intense snowfall. Very steep slopes should be avoided during sustained periods of intense snowfall.
Avalanche Discussion
( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Areas of clouds and showers will continue to track northeast along the surface front as the center of the low pressure system moves from the Oregon Coast into Northern California. As the surface front pushes to the east, snow and rain shower activity will increase in Western Wyoming. On Monday skies will be mostly cloudy and temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than today. Snow showers are likely and new snow accumulations of two to four inches are possible. Skies are forecast to clear from the northwest late in the day.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW below an elevation of 10,500 feet. Some potential exist for convective snow showers to produce localized areas of intense snowfall. Very steep slopes should be avoided during periods of sustained intense snowfall.
