Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The patchy and limited snowpack that remains mostly above 750 metres on North-West through North to Easterly aspects will remain very firm and stable throughout, although softening slightly later in the afternoon as it warms.. The dusting of new snow on the tops will linger on Northerly aspects but will mostly disappear during the day as temperatures rise. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will remain strong to Gale force generally Southerly. Freezing level around 600m overnight will rise to around 1300m in the day. Some showers are expected during the morning falling as sleet or rain at summit levels then dry during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight showers had left a dusting of snow above 800 metres or so by morning, this has slowly disappeared but still lingers in Northerly aspects. A dry day with strong Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: By morning some thin insignificant snow lay on most aspects above 600 metres or so. Gradually disappearing as the day progressed but lingering in shady Northerly aspects. The old snowpack that now remains is well bonded and stable throughout, cover is mostly patchy but significant areas of hard snow is present in some gullies, corrie backwalls and summit slopes, mostly above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low
