The fresh wind slabs represent the main danger. The danger of dry and moist avalanches will increase a little during the day.

The high humditiy gave rise on Wednesday to moistening of the snowpack in all aspects below approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of falling temperatures a crust formed on the surface, in particular below approximately 2100 m. On Friday the wind was strong. The more recent wind slabs are bonding well with the old snowpack. Towards its base, the snowpack consists of faceted crystals, especially in shady places that are protected from the wind,.

The weather will be mild. Gradual decrease in avalanche danger.

Wind slabs can as before be released by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. This applies in particular on steep slopes, and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. They are mostly easy to recognise but in some cases prone to triggering. As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be an increase in the danger of dry and moist avalanches within the current danger level. On steep sunny slopes and in steep rocky terrain dry and moist avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. Avalanches can also be released in the old snowpack and reach medium size in particular on steep shady slopes. This applies in particular in case of a large load.
