Forecast Snow Stability: Overnight Sunday, wet snow instabilities are expected above 850 metres. Most affected locations will be very steep slopes, gully exits and steep corrie rims with a North-West through North to Easterly aspect. The older firm snowpack will continue to thaw and soften, any remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. During the day the snowpack will start to consolidate and refreeze above 800 metres as drier conditions take affect. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Sunday night, strong to gale force Southerly winds and rain at all levels will affect the area. The freezing level will lower to around 900 metres and rain will turn to isolated light snow showers by dawn. Drier conditions and easing South-South-Westerly winds are expected for the rest of the day. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight, the freezing level was around 700 metres, snow showers fell mainly above 650 metres on strengthening Southerly winds. At first these conditions continued to affect the area but during the course of the morning the freezing level rose to above the summits by midday. The snow showers turned to rain at all levels and the winds became much stronger in the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: New snow fell with the greatest accumulations being above 900 metres these were generally not extensive and started to quickly thaw after midday. Some surface wet snow instabilities developed on steeper slopes. Gully exits and steep corrie rims with a North-West through North to Easterly aspects were most affected. The older icy snowpack is slowly thawing but still firm and generally stable. Remaining cornices are unstable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
