Avalanche Activity

The sleet will give rise from the late morning to moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Moist snow slides and avalanches are possible.

Up to 2300 m rain will fall from late morning in some regions. This situation will give rise to significant moistening of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes. Below approximately 2300 m and on very steep slopes small to medium-sized wet snow slides and avalanches are possible as a consequence of the rain. In places where the snowfall level is higher the avalanche danger is greater. The conditions are unfavourable for ski touring, snowshoe hiking as well as off-piste descents, both due to the strong moistening of the snowpack at mid and low altitudes and due to locally poor visibility.

Snowpack Structure

Below approximately 2300 m: The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning. The rain will give rise in the afternoon to increasing moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2300 m. This situation will give rise to a loss of strength within the old snowpack.

Tendency

A lot of snow will fall on Monday. Increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
