Avalanche Activity

The snowpack remains generally stable. As a consequence of the new snow there will be only a slight increase in the avalanche danger.

In some localities some new snow above approximately 900 m: This snow and isolated small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. These are to be evaluated with care and prudence in terrain where there is a danger of falling. Faceted weak layers exist deep in the snowpack. In very isolated cases the avalanches can be triggered in the old snow and reach medium size in isolated cases, especially on very steep north and east facing slopes in particular between approximately 2400 and 2700 m in little used terrain. The avalanche prone locations are very rare and are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. In particular south, southeast and southwest facing slopes below approximately 2200 m: No snow is lying. In some localities 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall above approximately 900 m. The old snowpack will be well bonded on steep sunny slopes. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes. Hardly any more avalanches were reported.

Tendency

In some regions some new snow: In some localities increase in avalanche danger.
