Forecast Snow Stability: Mild and wet conditions overnight will saturate the snow cover giving a general reduction. By morning the remaining snowpack will be soft moist and generally stable on all but the steepest slopes where surface wet snow instabilities will exist. Any remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very mild, wet and windy conditions will affect the area overnight and on Tuesday. The freezing level will rise to well above summit level and persistent occasionally quite heavy rain will affect all levels. Winds will be strong to gale force South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Much milder and calmer conditions are now affecting the area, it has been mainly dry with only a trace of new snow overnight affecting higher slopes. The freezing level at midday was around 900 metres but rising. Winds were generally South-Westerly, fresh. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally stable on all but the steepest slopes where surface instabilities exist, cornices are suspect. The avalanche hazard is Low.
