Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will continue to develop in wind sheltered locations on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Corrie rims, gully exits and scarp slopes will be most affected. Unstable cornices will also continue to develop in these locations. Any exposed terrain will be scoured and icy. Isolated deeper drifts will be encountered in from lower levels. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will be around 750 metres for most of the day. Snow showers, heaviest overnight but easing during the morning. Winds will be strong, South-South-West during the night, veering to North-West, then backing to the West-North-West during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was cloudy around the summits with snow showers throughout the morning and strong Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The majority of the snow cover is firm and well bonded but with windslab developing in wind sheltered features. Greatest amounts are around corrie rims and in gully exits above 900 metres. Many areas have become very icy, particularly where exposed to the strong winds. Cornices are also starting to redevelop. The avalanche hazard is Moderate
