Avalanche Summary

Most steep slopes are safe from avalanches because very few slopes have enough snow to slide. If you were to trigger a small avalanche, it would be on a drifted slope where a hard layer of snow sits over softer snow below. You will likely encounter this slab over a weak snow combination above treeline on northerly or east-facing slopes in gullies or directly below ridgetop. Avoid stiff surfaces, especially on slopes steeper than 35 degrees.

Snow forecast to start falling on Tuesday with strong northerly wind. If this storm overproduces as the area picks up around ten inches of snow, avalanche hazard will rise at upper elevations for Wednesday.
