Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are safe from avalanches. Your chance of triggering a small wet avalanche will increase as the day progresses. Start your day early and end early to reduce your chance of triggering a wet avalanche.

Steep slopes where you sink into the snowpack past your ankles or where the snowpack collapses under your weight are most dangerous. The most likely places to find these conditions are in thin snowpack areas and in rocky terrain. You are less likely to trigger an avalanche on slopes less than 40 degrees and those with continuous snow coverage.
