Avalanche Activity

The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger. It is inadvisable to engage in backcountry touring.

The large quantity of fresh snow and the extensive wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects. As the snowfall level drops the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. Over a wide area avalanche prone wind slabs will form. In all aspects medium-sized and large natural avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of the precipitation. Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow can be released easily or naturally in all aspects.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions the wind slabs have increased in size substantially. The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the extensive wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in all aspects.

In all regions the wind slabs will increase in size additionally.
