Avalanche Summary
Most slopes are generally safe from avalanches, mostly due to a thin, shallow snowpack. If you find stiff, hollow snow on a steep, planar slope at higher elevations, consider going around it, especially if you see cracking in the snow as you travel.
Expect the danger to increase on Friday as a storm brings a foot or more of snow to the West Elk Mountains.
