Strong northwesterly to westerly ridgetop winds over the past several days have created pockets of wind slab up to eighteen inches deep near ridgecrests and in exposed areas. Backcountry travelers could trigger these slabs on very steep, wind loaded slopes. At the mid elevations, the hazard is limited to isolated pockets of soft slab to ten inch depths in very steep, wind loaded terrain. The snowpack is mostly stable at the lower elevations and avalanches are unlikely.

Expect partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies on Monday. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the teens before rising to near 30 during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above 9,000 feet where backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of wind slab up to 18 inches deep in steep, wind loaded terrain. Any extended periods of sunshine will make these slabs more susceptible to failure. Below 9,000 feet, the hazard is LOW and avalanches are unlikely except for isolated pockets of surface slab up to 12 inches deep on very steep, wind loaded slopes.
