In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. The primary concern is surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth created by last week's storm cycle and recent winds on ridgecrests. These slabs could be triggered in very steep areas near ridges. The warm afternoon temperatures will increase the chance of sloughs that could develop to dangerous slides. The sloughs will be initiated by snow falling from rocky areas, cornices dropping, or travelers. There have been no large slides reported for some time but the possibility of such slides remains. They would likely require large triggers like multiple snow machiners. The surface slabs, the deeper hard slabs, and cornices will be more susceptible to failure this afternoon when significant warming is expected.
