Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become increasingly wet at all levels. Snowpack stability will slowly improve as the snow thaws and consolidates. Some loose surface instabilities will be present on steep aspects. Remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: Increasing South-Easterly winds with the freezing level above the summits. Some light rain or drizzle throughout the day. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers above 800 metres this morning slowly turned to rain at all levels by the afternoon. Moderate to strong South-Easterly winds over the summits. ObservedSnowStability: New snow accumulations from this morning have started to thaw at all levels by late afternoon. Greatest accumulations are on steep North-West, North and North-East aspects above 1000 metres. Localised instabilities are present in these locations. Existing old snow is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
