Snow and Weather
Current Conditions: The weather has been consistently mild with quite warm temperatures for this time of the season. Highs on Friday were again into the upper 30s and lows only dropped down to around freezing at many high elevation stations. Wind has been light from the southwest. The snowpack is shallow but remains somewhat supportable still to skis and snowmobiles. There is no doubt that this prolonged period of high pressure is taking its toll through the near surface faceting process. In simple terms, the longer we go with no storms, the weaker the current snowpack becomes.
Mountain Weather: It'll be another day of mild weather with mostly sunny skies, high temperatures into the upper 30s and light southwest wind. It looks like we might have some minor weather disturbances later on in the week but I don't see any chance for a decent storm until around the 28th of December.
