The upper 2 feet of our snowpack have been responsible for producing human-triggered avalanches this past week almost every day. The chances of triggering these layers is winding down but may linger a bit longer than we want. Our test pits have been showing hard results with propagation (ECTP28 on MLK above Twin Lakes) mainly on Northern aspects, and the better that the locations were protected from winds the more preserved this layer is and is producing some easier failures, West mountain has preserved these weak layers even better than other locations that we have sampled.
The name persistent weak layer says it all and should drive just how conservative you are in your travel protocols and decision-making.
