The wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger.
The wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger.
The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In particular on sunny slopes moist loose snow avalanches are possible. In all aspects large and, in isolated cases, very large avalanches are possible. Avalanches can be released by a single winter sport participant. Artificially triggered avalanches and reports filed by observers confirm poor snowpack stability.
The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. As a consequence of new snow and wind, deep wind slabs formed. They must be evaluated with care and prudence. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.
Over a wide area significant warming.
