Avalanche danger is predominantly low. Avalanche prone locations occur particularly on very steep shady slopes, in high-alpine extremely steep terrain. There, particularly by large additional loading, isolated weak layers in the old snowpack can trigger a small slab avalanches. Apart from the dangers of being buried in snow, the risks of being swept along and forced to take a fall require alertness. In rain-impacted areas and at intermediate altitudes, small wet-snow avalanches are possible until temperatures drop measurably.
Following a mild night of overcast skies, light precipitation set in this morning (snowfall level at 1800 m). The snowpack is thoroughly wet up to high altitudes, above that it is compact and stable. Particularly in high alpine regions, small older snowdrift accumjulations are frequently prone to triggering on steep shady slopes. Small slabs can triggered in near-surface layers of the old snowpack in isolated cases. At low and intermediate altitudes there is not much snow on the ground. Little information is available about the snowpack itself.
Skies will be gray this morning, accompanied by sometimes heavy rainfall (snowfall above 1500-1800m). This afternoon, only showers. Visibility is poor. At 2000 m: dropping to -1 degree. Light to moderate W/NW winds at high altitude.
Precipitation will ease during the nocturnal hours tonight. Sunday will be variable, instable, most rainfall and snowfall anticipated in the afternoon (snowfall level at 1700m). Poor visibility. Avalanche danger will increase slightly at high altitude as a result of fresh snow and wind. The daily Avalanche Bulletins are hereby finished for this season.
