Forecast Snow Stability: A period of higher instability will occur early morning as rain or sleet affect all levels, sheltered gullies and slopes with a North through East to South-Easterly aspect above 800 metres will be most affected with wet snow instabilities developing. Cornices in these areas will be prone to collapse. A return to colder conditions through the course of the day with only light snow showers expected will start to aid the consolidation process. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight will see new snow affect slopes mainly above 800 metres. Precipitation will turn to rain or sleet as the freezing level rises above the summits briefly at the start of the day before lowering to 600 metres later. Very light snow showers are expected through the day. Winds will be strong to gale force, generally South-Westerly overnight becoming mainly Westerly by day. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers have affected slopes above 400 metres. Winds have been strong to gale force generally Westerly. The freezing level was around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Deep unstable windslab exists in wind sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations are in sheltered gullies and on slopes with a North-through East to South-East aspect above 850 metres. Windward slopes are generally scoured, in these areas the older snow is firm and icy in places. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
