On very steep sunny slopes crampons are useful
On extremely steep sunny slopes only isolated small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized dry and moist snow slides are possible, in particular at the base of rock walls, and in steep rocky terrain. In the evening as the temperature drops there will be only a very slight increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches. The older wind slabs are to be found above approximately 2400 m. They are rather rare but are barely recognisable. Avalanches can be released by people. Caution is to be exercised in particular on extremely steep slopes, and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. Additionally in isolated cases avalanches can be released in deep layers and reach medium size.
Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise on Tuesday to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on very steep sunny slopes in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good. Hardly any more slab avalanches have been released by people in the last few days. The various wind slabs have bonded generally well with the old snowpack. Shady slopes: The upper section of the snowpack is dry and has a loosely bonded surface. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the last two days, in particular below approximately 2700 m on very steep sunny slopes. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack in all aspects. Snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2400 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at high altitude a little snow is lying. At low and intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface, in particular below approximately 2700 m on very steep sunny slopes.
As the temperature drops there will be only a very slight increase in the danger of wet avalanches.
