The avalanche risk is low. Nevertheless, small, spontaneous loose snow avalanches can be expected from steep terrain as the weather warms up and the sun shines.
Snowpack Structure
Up to 30 cm of new fallen snow has fallen in the Koralpe area since Wednesday. The new fallen snow only covers hard persistent weak layers in shady gullies and bowls above the tree line in the northern sector, otherwise it fell on apery ground.
Weather Forecast
High air pressure brings us sunny mountain weather on St. Stephen's Day. In the Koralpe area, there is still some fog at the beginning, which disappears in the morning. A moderate easterly wind makes it milder. The temperature at an altitude of 2000 metres will rise from -5 to -0 degrees during the day. A moderate wind from the south-east. On Saturday it will remain sunny and it will be even milder.
