Caution is advised as the consequences of triggering a small avalanche in steep terrain could be severe. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 9,000 feet.

Temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s in the mountains. Winds will be westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour with higher gusts.The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain LOW, however areas that receive abundant amounts of new light density snow overnight may see an increased hazard. In those areas, west winds will form new soft slabs on leeward aspects that are likely to be poorly bonded to the old snow surfaces and sensitive to human triggers. These slabs could build to depths of a foot or more depending on the overnight snowfall totals. A cautious approach to steep terrain and conservative terrain selection decisions are warranted in these shallow, early season conditions.
