Forecast Snow Stability: The older existing snowpack will remain firm and stable at first. There will be some softening in the early hours as the freezing level begins to rise. Later some minor wet snow instabilities will begin to develop affecting steeper terrain on North-West through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The snowpack will continue to thaw below this level. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be fresh Southerly this evening, backing Easterly and gaining in strength overnight to become strong South-South-Westerly. It will be dry overnight with some light rain showers tomorrow. The freezing level will be around 800 meters at first then rising to above summit levels, lowering again later tomorrow to around 850 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Winds were gale force South-Westerly. There were some heavy showers which mainly fell as rain with just a trace of snow visible on the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: The older existing snowpack has remained generally stable and well bonded with some surface softening. Some minor amounts of drifted snow were visible on the higher summits especially on steeper wind sheltered terrain on North to East aspects above 850 metres. These deposits are shallow and are generally avoidable. At lower levels the snowpack is thawing. The avalanche hazard is Low.
