In sintesi

ANTICIPATE A RISING AVALANCHE DANGER THROUGH THE WEEKEND! The danger will be most pronounced on steep slopes above 9500' in elevation that face northwest, north and northeast. These are slopes that have weak snow near the ground from October and early November.

Today the avalanche danger is MODERATE in the high north facing terrain. Outside of the high north facing terrain the avalanche danger is LOW.

Snow and Weather

Yesterday's little weather disturbance produced about 3" of new snow by mid afternoon. I was really not expecting any measurable snow from that system but I'm happy for the little bonus! Another inch fell overnight.

Another round of snow is expected today in warm air advection. Rain/Snow levels will be around 6000 feet. Cold air advection starts tonight and should last through Friday bringing more snow. One last shot of snow should occur on Sunday.

We should see total snow amounts of 10 to 20" by late Sunday.
