Forecast Snow Stability: Remaining snow will initially be very firm and icy, softening slightly by the end of the afternoon but remaining well bonded throughout. Greatest amounts will be in higher North to East facing corries above 900 metres, mostly bare ground otherwise. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, the freezing level will drop to around 800 metres but will rise above the summits during the day. Light rain is expected in the afternoon. Winds initially West-North-West then backing to become West-South-West, strong throughout. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing dropped throughout the morning to reach the higher summits by early afternoon. Occasional light rain otherwise dry. Winds were very strong, initially West-North-West then North-West. ObservedSnowStability: The majority of the patchy snow cover has softened slightly but remains well bonded and stable. Greatest amounts are found in high North to East facing corries. The avalanche hazard is Low.
