Snowpack Summary

Alpine surfaces are heavily wind-affected, but 10 to 20 cm of soft snow can still be found in wind-sheltered terrain. Check this White Pass MIN for more details.

A spotty layer of surface hoar may sit below recent snow, buried around 20 to 30 cm deep. Below 1500 m, a thick melt-freeze crust is buried 50-100 cm deep.

Average snowpack depth at treeline is around 200 cm.
