You may find shallow slabs from recent storms and winds at upper elevations. Slabs will be thicker in wind loaded terrain. Avalanches within new and wind loaded snow may be large in the alpine. Use small inconsequential slopes to test how the new snow is bonding. Shooting cracks and recent avalanches are red flag signs of unstable snow. Steer around unsupported and convex slopes.
Late in the day and at lower elevations, you may be able to trigger loose wet avalanches. Monitor changing conditions during the day for signs of wet snow instability such as rollerballs, wet snow, and recent fan shaped avalanches. If you find this happening, avoid steep slopes.
