NC 07.01 Isolated windslab on NW, N to E aspects above 1000m. Remaining cornices unstable. Avalanche Hazard will be Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to consolidate and will be generally well bonded at all levels. Isolated and shallow accumulations of windslab will be present on steep wind sheltered locations on North-West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Areas most affected will be gully tops and coire rims, remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Storm force Southerly winds, will ease during the day before gaining in strength again during the afternoon. The freezing level will be above the highest summits overnight with rain at all levels. The rain will turn to sleet and later light and isolated snow showers, as the freezing level lowers from early morning to around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow showers cleared by the early morning, giving a largely dry day. Storm force, South-Westerly winds eased slightly during the afternoon. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has consolidated further in the cooler temperatures and is firm and icy with a dusting of new snow above 900 metres. Isolated, shallow and generally avoidable accumulations of windslab are also present in wind sheltered locations on North-West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
