New snow above approximately 1000 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs will become increasingly prone to triggering. New snow and wind slabs can to an increasing extent be released, even by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation. Dry slab avalanches are the main danger. Some mostly small natural avalanches are possible. In very isolated cases avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers reach large size in isolated cases in particular on steep west, north and southeast facing slopes. As the snowfall becomes more intense the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase in the evening.
The snowpack is well consolidated and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In all aspects at intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying. Below approximately 2000 m hardly any snow is lying. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Also at intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the precipitation. The natural avalanche activity will gradually increase.
