The early morning will see quite favourable conditions. Even in moderately steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. As the day progresses as the moisture increases there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches. In some places the avalanches can be released in the large-grained old snow and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on east, south and west facing slopes below approximately 2800 m and in steep rocky terrain. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded early.

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The high temperatures from the early morning will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Over a wide area less snow than usual is lying. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes.
