GC for 26/12 Fresh unstable windslab mainly N,NE,E,SE above 850m. Gully and coire rims, elsewhere stable. Moderate hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will develop throughout the forecast period, mainly affecting North through East to South East aspects above 850 metres. Wind sheltered locations such as coire rims and gullies will be most affected. Fragile cornices will begin to form above these aspects. Slopes exposed to wind will be well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the forecast period will be snow above 300 metres. Winds will be strong West-South-Westerly. The freezing level will be around 300 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Light showers were initially rain at all levels turning to snow above 600 metres by the end of the afternoon. The freezing level fell to around 600 metres. Moderate South-West winds veered Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack is continuing to consolidate and stability is good in all locations. Isolated deposits of fresh windslab are beginning to form on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. These new accumulations have not gained any significant depth and are not extensive. The avalanche hazard is Low.
