Avalanche Activity

Over a wide area from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

The northwesterly wind will transport the snow. Some fresh snow as well as the small wind slabs represent the main danger. Faceted weak layers exist deep in the snowpack in particular on wind-protected shady slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads here.

Snowpack Structure

New snow and wind slabs are lying mostly on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack especially on very steep shady slopes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
