Strong westerly winds have formed thick wind slabs on the lee sides of terrain features. The potential size of these wind slabs will be difficult to manage and will create dangerous avalanche conditions. Where this avalanche problem overlays the persistent slab avalanche problem, a triggered wind slab could both propagate wider and become larger than expected. Wind slabs can be avoided by sticking to sheltered or wind-scoured areas.
