In sintesi

Generally stable conditions exist, and avalanches are unlikely. With continued sun and above-average temperatures, look for wet snow on solar aspects in the middle of the day. Anticipate variable surface conditions and plan accordingly.

Avalanche Discussion

Prolonged, stable weather has created generally stable avalanche conditions.  Solar slopes continue to melt during the warmest part of the day, and then refreeze at night under clear skies and cold temperatures. Minimal avalanche activity has been observed in the last several days.

Low danger does not mean no danger, and small, isolated, loose wet avalanches are still a possibility on solar slopes during the middle of the day. Rockfall has been observed on similar slopes and is something to consider when moving through terrain today.

Surface conditions are a mixed bag, including melt-freeze crusts, transitional snow,  near-surface facets, and wind-affected snow. Skiers and riders have been taking advantage of favorable conditions up and down the forecast area, and are still finding enjoyable sliding on protected northwest, north, and east aspects.

It's a great time to get out, and a good plan can lead to a rewarding day with limited exposure to hazards.
