Avalanche Activity

LO for 19/2. Consolidation in recent windslab mainly on NW-NE aspects above 900m. Older snow stable. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The older snowpack will remain generally stable. Weaknesses in more recent windslab, mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres, will slowly consolidate through the period. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

The freezing level will be poorly defined but summit temperatures are expected to be close to freezing. Observed Weather Influences: After some early freezing rain it was a dry day with fresh Southerly winds. Temperatures were quite variable and there was no clearly defined freezing level. ObservedSnowStability: Recent windslab has consolidated in the fluctuating temperatures but isolated weaknesses persist mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres with gullies and corrie rims most affected. The older snowpack is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
