The surface of the snowpack is hardly frozen at all and will already soften in the late morning.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is moist and its surface has a crust that is not capable of bearing a load. This applies in particular on sunny slopes. As a consequence of rising temperatures the snowpack will settle during the next two days. The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack in all aspects.
