Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will become wet overnight, then turn icy and firm during Tuesday. It will remain well consolidated. Largest areas of this older snow being found on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Small amounts of fresh windslab will develop on North to East aspects above 700 metres, throughout Tuesday. Gully tops and coire rims being most affected. These fresh deposits should be shallow, and are not expected to be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be rain at all levels this evening, some heavy. This will turn to lighter scattered showers through Tuesday, falling as snow above 700 metres as the freezing level lowers. Gale force South-Westerly winds overnight slowly ease to strong and veer to Westerly through the day. The freezing level, after being well above the summits, lowers to around 700 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: A cloudy day with occasional showers, these being of sleet and snow above 700 metres. Winds were very strong Westerly on the tops increasing as the day went on. Freezing level was just below summit level. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack remains well bonded and stable. Largest areas are found above 800 metres, on North through East to South-East aspects in the higher coires, and along summit ridgelines. There was a very slight dusting of new snow above 700 metres which was not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
