Avalanche Activity

Significant warming to below 3200 m: From the early morning as the moisture increases there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible below approximately 3200 m. In the last few days mostly small wind slabs formed. They can be released. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain at elevated altitudes and on shady slopes. These are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular in terrain where there is a danger of falling.

Snowpack Structure

The strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Towards its surface, the snowpack is weak in some cases and its surface consists of loosely bonded snow lying on a crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular on shady slopes,. The high temperatures from the early morning will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack. The old snowpack remains generally stable.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
