Avalanche Activity

New snow at high altitude.

As a consequence of new snow and wind individual mostly small avalanches are possible above approximately 1700 m. This applies especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, as well as on very steep slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack remains subject to considerable local variations. At intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying. At high altitude mostly small wind slabs formed. In gullies and bowls the wind slabs are larger. Some fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs will be deposited on a quite favourable old snowpack above approximately 1800 m.
