Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs and gliding snow require caution.

The fresh wind slabs are mostly small and in some cases prone to triggering. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. A latent danger of gliding avalanches exists. This applies on steep grassy slopes. Avalanches can reach medium size. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Snowpack Structure

Up to 10 cm of snow fell on Wednesday. Up to 10 cm of snow will fall on Thursday. The wind will be strong to storm force. Fresh wind slabs are lying on soft layers in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.

Tendency

The weather conditions in the early morning will give rise to moistening of the snowpack.
