You can easily trigger an avalanche in the new snow on Saturday. You can also trigger slides that break deeply in the snowpack. The most dangerous areas are drifted slopes close to ridgelines. You should avoid steep slopes if you notice shooting cracks in the new snow, or hear widespread audible collapsing. Cracking in the new snow is a sign you can trigger slides close to the surface. Loud, booming collapses mean you could trigger deeper slides. Avoid steep slopes where you see either sign; small slides close to the surface can trigger larger, deeper avalanches. Look for safer riding on lower-angle and wind-sheltered slopes.
